Whooping cough cases increase

Cases of whooping cough (pertussis) reported to the Health Protection Agency (HPA) in England and Wales have more than doubled from 421 cases in 2010 to 1040 in 2011. Increases in levels of whooping cough are seen every three to four years and figures in 2011 are in line with cases reported in the last peak year of 2008.

OPENING TIMES

Normal business hours are Monday - Friday 08.30 - 18.00 with no closure for lunch.
In addition we are open on a Monday evening 18.00 - 20.00 and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings at 8am. Please note that during these additional hours the health centre doors are locked and only patients with booked appointments are able to access the surgery at this time. All enquiries and appointment bookings should be made within normal business hours 08.30 - 18.00.

Making an Appointment
You may consult with any of the doctors or nurses available. Appointments can be made by phone or in person at reception. You will be offered the earliest appointment available with the provider of your choice or at a time suitable for you when they are available for consultation.

Should you feel that you couldn’t wait for the next routine appointment, you may have to accept and appointment with the duty doctor or nurse that day.

Information about Appointments
Routine medical consultations are by appointment only. They are generally at 10 minute intervals and can be booked at reception. If you have 2 or more items to discuss or you feel you have a complex issue please ask the receptionist for a longer time eg 20 minutes. You may have to wait slightly longer for an extended appointment.

Please make separate appointments for each person who needs a consultation.

Immediately Necessary and Urgent Medical appointments are available for patients with conditions that cannot wait for the next routine appointment. These appointments are only available with the duty doctor/nurse and can only be booked on that day.

If you feel you cannot wait for the next routine appointment please inform the receptionist when making the appointment.
