New Patient Medicals
Unless there is a medical need, only patients over the age of 16 are offered a new patient appointment with a practice nurse
Pre-Conceptual CounsellingIf you are thinking of starting a family and wish to talk to someone about keeping fit and well for baby’s sake, please see your doctor in routine surgery or your health visitor
Family PlanningA full range of family planning services, including emergency contraception, is available. You may ask your doctor or nurse for advice at any surgery.
Maternity CareAn antenatal clinic is held every Monday afternoon. This is run by the midwife
Well Baby ClinicThis is held every Thursday morning. A health visitor will be present to give advice, to perform development checks and to offer advice regarding immunisations.
Children’s VaccinationsBy Appointment. It is important that your children are fully immunised against all the childhood diseases. Recall of children for immunisation and developmental checks are routinely done by the Practice Nurses. Those who are overdue may be sent reminders
BP ChecksIt is recommended that everyone between the ages of 45-75 who do not regularly attend for medical treatment or screening have a BP check every 5 years. For patients over 75 years it is recommended they have a BP check every year. Please ask for a “BP Check” appointment with either of the Healthcare Assistants.
Minor SurgeryThe practice undertakes minor operations to help save long waits for hospital treatment. See your doctor first to discuss whether the operation is necessary. We also run a fortnightly clinic for the removal of warts.
Cervical Smear TestsWe prefer to do these tests ourselves, and they can be carried out by a doctor/nurse of your choice. Please inform the receptionist when you are making your appointment that you will be having a smear test. We follow the local policy of performing smear tests every three years UNLESS the cytologist recommends repeating the smear more often, or if you have had a hysterectomy. You will receive an invitation by computer-typed letter
